We understand that we live within a natural system on a small planet and our ability to do that successfully means that we need to create a new relationship to that order and one another. Ultimately this will be a relationship of greater balance. We see this as a necessary and profound change and an imperative of our time.

This is the challenge that faces us – and we get to decide how to deal with it. While the options include dread and denial, we choose to acknowledge the problem.

We know that our industry has a huge impact on the environment and that the actions we take as developers and consultants can make a significant contribution to the necessary changes. We are taking the actions we know to take and are continually looking at what our next steps will be and how they will push us further towards our goals.

Sustainability – that much overused phrase – is more than buildings. It’s about people and the choices we make. We believe that sustainability is fundamentally a social issue. We need to learn to live in ways that make lesser impacts on our resources. Inevitably that will mean re-balancing our needs so that they are provided by our more immediate environment – with a greater sharing of resources and recognition of our interdependence.

There is no one road to sustainability and by no means do we expect to do things perfectly. We are, however, committed to applying our skills and intelligence, taking actions that will move us forward to that goal, and knowing that the road will unfold before us. We plan on enjoying the journey, the opportunities to learn and grow, and in true reSource style we will be celebrating our victories along the way!
